The brand’s own site shows 4.7 out of 5 across 5,559 reviews. Its topper, sold separately, shows 4.78 across 10,492. Hold on to that second number, because it turns out to be the whole story.
We read 297 Reddit posts and comments mentioning Sleep On Latex, across 128 r/Mattress threads, and sorted them by who was writing. That sorting mattered more here than on any page we have built. The automatic pass counted 119 owners. After reading them one at a time, 69 were left.
The other fifty had bought the topper, not the mattress, and put it on an Avocado, a Purple, an Ikea, a Beautyrest, a Sealy, in one case a Sleep EZ. On Reddit this company’s topper is the thing people recommend to rescue somebody else’s bed. Count those buyers as mattress owners and you publish a score for a product they never slept on.
We have not tested this mattress, we have not owned one, and nobody here has slept on one. We are analysts reading what owners wrote, which is why every number below arrives with its denominator.

How we read it
Every item was sorted by what the writer is to this mattress: somebody who owns one, somebody whose order is on the way, a shopper weighing it up, or a person repeating what they had heard. Only the first group is counted anywhere on this page.
Four threads came out entirely, because they were about the pillow or the topper rather than the bed. Fifty owner labels were downgraded by hand, each one because the writer named a different mattress underneath their Sleep On Latex layer.
Mention frequency in a self selected sample. Not a failure rate, and not a share of buyers. People with a problem write more often than people without one.
Because a handful of long threads can carry one loud voice, we checked the same question a second way: counted by thread rather than by comment, 16 threads are purely positive, 11 purely negative and 4 mixed. Both methods land in the middle fifties. The figure is not the artefact of one busy conversation.
What Sleep On Latex actually sells
A single slab. Eight inches of solid Dunlop latex inside an organic cotton and wool cover, nine inches tall in total, and that is the entire mattress. There is no stack to reorder, no layer to exchange, no split down the middle.
There are exactly two firmnesses: Medium and Firm. There is no Soft. The soft option exists only in the topper line, sold separately.
That is the opposite of the Sleep EZ approach we looked at earlier, where the bed arrives as parts and you spend the first month tuning it. Here you make one choice, and it is close to final. Everything the owners report follows from that.

Two firmnesses, and nothing in between
Firmness dominates the corpus: 47 of the 69 owner posts raise it, and they split almost evenly, 20 positive against 22 negative. That balance is the finding. This is not a bed that is simply too hard. It is a bed with no middle setting.

makes sense why the medium was too soft and the firm too firm. There really is no in between.

Several owners report the same calibration problem from the other direction: the labels run firmer than the market’s. One owner reports the firm at around 46 ILD where other sellers list their firm at 34 to 36, and the received wisdom in one thread is that the medium feels like a firm and the firm like an extra firm.
So this is not a defect, it is an identity, and the people who wanted exactly that are delighted. A combo sleeper at 110 lb who went looking for something very firm bought the Firm on purpose and reports sleeping happily on it. The unhappy ones are the people who read “medium” and expected a medium.

The real price is the mattress plus the topper
This is the most useful thing on the page, and no review site says it, because it only shows up when you read owners rather than specifications.
Thirty seven of the 69 owner posts talk about layers, covers or toppers on a mattress that has none. What they are describing is the same fix, applied over and over: buy the bed, find it firmer than expected, add a topper.
Without a topper, it was comfortable for back sleeping but too firm for side sleeping.

A third, who reached for a rival’s Talalay layer rather than the house one, states the trade in a sentence:
the SOL mattress is very well made but very hard. You need something to soften it up.

So budget accordingly. A Queen is $1,299, and the topper that a good share of owners end up adding runs $149 to $329 depending on thickness and firmness. Call it $1,450 to $1,630 for the configuration many people actually sleep on.
There is a piece of order-time advice that recurs in these threads and is worth repeating, because it is asymmetric: a Firm that turns out too hard can be softened with a topper, while a Medium that turns out too soft cannot be firmed up. If you are hesitating between the two, the recoverable mistake is the firmer one.
One trap in the small print. The mattress carries the 100 night trial, but the topper’s return window is 30 days, not 100. If you plan to test the bed first and add the topper later, those two clocks are not the same clock.

Getting out is the best part, and the warranty is the part to read
Of the 69 owner posts, 7 mention dealing with the company. All 7 are positive. It is the only theme in this corpus with no negative at all, and on a mattress nobody gets to lie on first, that matters more than it looks.
Sleep on latex was free returns with a similar trial period.

Verified on the brand’s site: 100 nights, free return, pickup arranged and paid by the company, and nothing to repack. On a 125 lb Queen that last detail is not a small mercy.
Two things sit underneath that are less advertised.
One return per product category per year. The policy allows a single return or exchange per category, per customer, in a rolling twelve months. Mattress, topper and pillow count separately, but you get one shot at each.
The warranty asks you to pay the freight. Ten years, with sagging covered from one inch, which is a tighter and more generous threshold than the inch and a half we found at Sleep EZ. But the terms put the return shipping of a claim on the buyer. At year five, on a mattress this heavy, that is the number that decides whether a claim is worth making, and it is not on the product page.

How it holds up, and why we will not pretend to know
Only 7 owner posts speak to long-term hold-up, split 3 and 3 with one neutral. That is not enough for a verdict, so here is the whole of it.
The longest-standing owner in the corpus:

Against that, two owners describe the same failure, and it is not the one you would expect. It is not a dip, it is a general loss of firmness:
I liked it a lot when I first got it, but it has softened considerably in 4-5 years.

A second owner reports a soft spot after two years despite flipping the mattress. Four accounts do not make a curve, and we are not going to draw one. What we can say is that where this bed disappoints over time, owners describe it going soft rather than caving in, which is a different thing to watch for.

Against Sleep EZ, the other name in the same conversation
These two brands come up together constantly: 39 items in this corpus name both. The corpus does not pick a winner. It sorts people.
Owners who chose Sleep EZ wanted what this bed does not offer: thirteen inches, a different firmness on each side, Talalay as well as Dunlop. One says plainly that Sleep On Latex is a good company and simply did not sell what they were after.
Owners who chose Sleep On Latex wanted a finished object and a simple way out. No configuration to get right, no layers to rotate, no boxes to keep, and a pickup that costs nothing.
There is a third path that several owners end up on, and it is the most interesting: this mattress with a Talalay topper from the other brand. One bed for the support, the rival’s layer for the surface.

What Reddit cannot tell you about this mattress
Nothing about heavier bodies. Only 14 owners in this corpus state a weight, and they skew light, with four of them between 105 and 120 lb. Exactly one is above 200. This is the mirror image of the Sleep EZ corpus, which carried six owners at 200 lb or more. Any claim here about how this bed serves a heavier sleeper would be invented.
Nothing about stomach sleepers. Not one owner states that position.
Almost nothing about the Hybrid. It launched late in 2025. The brand’s own site shows 10 reviews for it. Our corpus has a handful of owner comments and several come from the same person in one thread. We can describe the product, we cannot score it.
The sample selects itself, on both sides. The brand shows 92.6% of its reviews at four or five stars, collected on its own store. We find 32 of the 59 owners with a clear verdict would buy again, collected from strangers arguing in public. Neither is neutral. The gap between them is the most useful thing about having both.
The corpus was not gathered for this page. These mentions were collected while researching other guides, which is why comparisons with Sleep EZ are over-represented, and why 82 of the 297 items carry no date at all.
The bottom line
A very good mattress with one setting, sold by a company that makes leaving easy.
The material is not in question and the service is the least contested thing in the corpus. What you are deciding is whether you want a bed you choose once, or a bed you tune. If you want to tune, the layered builds are a better fit. If you want one solid object, a hundred nights to think about it, and someone to carry it away for free if you were wrong, this is close to the cleanest offer in the category.
Worth your shortlist if
- You want firm, and you mean it. The people who wanted firm are the happiest group in this corpus.
- You want to buy once and stop thinking. There is nothing to configure and nothing to rotate.
- You want a low-risk way in. A hundred nights, free pickup, nothing to repack, no fee.
- You already own a bed you like and want the topper. That is what most of Reddit actually buys here.
Think twice if
- You want soft. The catalogue starts at Medium, and owners report Medium landing firmer than its label.
- You are light and sleep on your side. The unhappy profiles in this corpus cluster there.
- You budgeted $1,299. Plan for the topper too, which is what a good share of owners end up adding.
- You want a per-side setup. There is no split and no layer swap. That is a different product.

Is Sleep On Latex good, according to Reddit?
Of the 59 verified owners in our corpus who came down clearly, 32 would buy again and 27 would not. The praise clusters on the material, the free return and the customer service, which is the only subject here with no negative at all. The complaints cluster almost entirely on one thing: it arrives firmer than people expected. That is a mention frequency in a self selected sample, not a failure rate.
Is the Sleep On Latex mattress too firm?
Owners split roughly evenly, and the useful framing is not hard versus soft but the absence of a middle. The catalogue offers Medium and Firm only, no Soft, and owners report both labels running firmer than the same words elsewhere, with one putting the firm at around 46 ILD against a more typical 34 to 36. Sleep On Latex or Sleep EZ?
Both come up constantly and our corpus sorts people rather than picking a winner. Sleep EZ buyers wanted thirteen inches, per side firmness and Talalay, none of which this bed offers. Sleep On Latex buyers wanted a finished object and a simple exit. Several owners end up combining the two, using this mattress with a Talalay topper from the other brand. The Sleep EZ review on this site reads that brand the same way.
What does it really cost to return one?
Nothing, on the mattress, within 100 nights. The company arranges and pays for a doorstep pickup and you do not have to repack it, which owners single out as the reason buying unseen felt acceptable. Two limits to know: you get one return or exchange per product category in a rolling twelve months, and the topper’s window is 30 days rather than 100.
