Nectar is the most searched mattress on this site’s list, and the hardest one to write about honestly, because the answer depends almost entirely on a question nobody asks at checkout: how long do you need it to last?
We read 405 Reddit posts and comments mentioning Nectar across 140 r/Mattress threads, and kept the 98 written by people who own or owned one. Of those, 87 come down clearly. Twenty six would buy again and sixty one would not.
Before that number does any work, two things about it. It moves between 23 and 38 percent depending on how you cut the corpus, and half the material came from searches aimed at complaints, which pull the figure down by construction. And a single thread supplies twelve of the sixty one negatives, almost certainly one household replying to itself, which is why we count people and threads rather than comments.
We have not tested this mattress, we have not owned one, and nobody here has slept on one. We are analysts reading what owners wrote, which is why every number below arrives with its denominator.

How we read it
Every item was sorted by what the writer is to this mattress: somebody who owns one, somebody whose order is on the way, a shopper weighing it up, or a person repeating what they had heard. Only the first group is counted anywhere on this page.
One thread came out entirely, and it is worth saying which. It was a thirty two item argument about an advertising campaign, containing no owner and no word about the mattress. The subject of this page is the bed, not the marketing.
Mention frequency in a self selected sample. Not a failure rate, and not a share of buyers. People with a problem write more often than people without one.
The finding: it is a bed that tests well on arrival
Here is the thing the star ratings cannot show you, and it is the reason this page exists.
Forty two of the owners who take a side also say how long they have owned it. Split them at the twelve month mark:
- Under a year: 14 would buy again, 11 would not.
- A year or more: 3 would buy again, 14 would not.
Nobody in this corpus complains about delivery day. The positive reports cluster among people days or weeks in, and several of them literally say “so far so good”. The negatives arrive later, and the mechanism gets described by the owners themselves rather than by us:

At the far end, an owner who got a long run out of it and still ended the same way:

Thirteen owners mention sagging in total, on a timescale running from under six months to seven years.
The honest limits of this. Forty two people is not a survey, only half of the owners who take a side state a tenure at all, and people whose bed quietly keeps working have less reason to post than people whose bed did not. That last bias cuts against the finding as much as for it. What we can say is that the split is large, it runs the same direction across the corpus, and it explains something the aggregate score does not: why online sentiment about this mattress is so much warmer than owner sentiment. Most reviews are written early.

The owners who are happy, and what they have in common
A page that only counted the complaints would be useless to you, so here is the other side, and it has a pattern.

That last one had also tried three costlier brands and came back. And one owner makes the argument against our own headline number better than we could:

They are right, and it is the single most important sentence on this page. People who are quietly satisfied do not post. A corpus like ours cannot see them.
What the satisfied owners have in common is the price they paid. They talk about a bed that cost seven hundred to a thousand dollars and judge it on those terms. Not one positive account in our reading is defending the top of the range.

The brand’s own ratings tell the same story
Look down that table again. On the company’s own site, on its own review widget, the rating falls in a straight line as the price climbs: 4.7 at $699, and 4.1 at $2,249.
That is not our number, it is theirs, collected from their own customers, and it points the same way our corpus does. The cheap Nectar is the well-liked Nectar.
It also explains the shape of the catalogue. The Classic carries 54,896 reviews. The Ultra Hybrid carries 246. Almost nobody is buying the expensive ones, and the ones who do rate them lower.
The exit is generous, and it runs through a third party
Nineteen owners talk about returns, exchanges or the warranty. Three are positive, fourteen are not, and the policy on paper is one of the best in the category, so the gap is worth understanding rather than shouting about.
Verified on the brand’s site: 365 nights, and no fee to process a return. When it goes smoothly, it goes very smoothly:

That owner reports collection the next day and an immediate refund. Set against it, the friction owners describe is not the refund itself but the pickup, which is handled by a partner company that resells or donates the mattress:

Three clauses to read before you order, all from the current policy. You cannot start a return in the first 30 days. The mattress must be in a condition fit to donate, so stains or tears end the conversation. And the warranty, marketed as forever, replaces the bed for free for ten years, after which you pay $50 a trip and coverage begins past an inch and a half of sagging.

Heat, briefly, because nine people is nine people
Nine owners raise sleeping temperature and seven of them say it runs warm, including on versions sold on their cooling features:

Nine accounts is a short chapter, not a percentage, and thick memory foam running warm is not exactly a surprise. Read it as something to weigh if you already sleep hot, not as a verdict.

What Reddit cannot tell you about this mattress
Anything about the expensive models. The Ultra and Luxe are close to absent from owner reports, and the brand’s own site shows a few hundred reviews against fifty thousand for the Classic. A mattress at $1,999 with no readable owner history is a gamble whichever way it goes, and we are not going to pretend otherwise in either direction.
Anything by sleeping position or body weight. Twenty five owners state a position and twenty three a weight. That supports a case series and nothing more.
Whether the fibreglass complaints still apply. They surface in our corpus, and we deliberately did not count them. The reason is specific: they come from one household posting repeatedly, about units bought in 2018, and the current product pages state the mattresses are fibreglass free and CertiPUR-US certified. Carrying a 2018 complaint onto a page about a 2026 product would be inaccurate, so we left it out and are telling you we did.
The sample selects itself, and it was gathered for other pages. Roughly half these mentions came out of research for our cheap mattress and hot sleeper guides, which skews the corpus toward budget buyers and toward complaint-shaped threads. Split by source, the score runs 32 percent on the neutral searches and 23 percent on the complaint-targeted ones. The truth is somewhere in that band, and we have shown you the band rather than picking the flattering end.
The bottom line
A bed that reviews well on arrival, at a price that makes the first two years good value and the years after it a question.
If you want a cheap memory foam mattress for a guest room, a first apartment or a few years of use, the owner reports in this corpus support that, and the people who paid around seven hundred dollars are the ones defending it. Buy the Classic, not the Ultra, and take the 365 nights seriously.
If you need this to be the bed you stop thinking about, our reading does not support it. Not because the complaints are damning, but because the satisfied accounts thin out as the years count up, and the money you would spend on the top of this range buys a different kind of product elsewhere.
Worth your shortlist if
- You are buying at the bottom of the range. That is where both our corpus and the brand’s own ratings are warmest.
- You need a guest room, a rental or a first bed rather than a decade of service.
- You want a long trial. 365 nights with no return fee is genuinely unusual.
- You like a soft memory foam feel and you do not sleep hot.
Think twice if
- You want it to last. Among owners past a year, 14 of 17 with a verdict would not buy again.
- You are looking at the Ultra or the Luxe. There is almost no owner history to read, at any price.
- You sleep hot. Seven of the nine owners who raise temperature say it runs warm.
- You want to try it and send it back quickly. Returns cannot start before day 30.

Is Nectar good, according to Reddit?
Of the 87 owners in our corpus who came down clearly, 26 would buy again and 61 would not. The important qualifier is time: among owners in their first year the split is 14 to 11, and among owners past a year it is 3 to 14. Praise clusters on price and on the early months, complaints on sagging later and on running warm. That is a mention frequency in a self selected sample, not a failure rate.
How long does a Nectar mattress last?
Our corpus cannot give you a number, and anyone who does is guessing. What it shows is a pattern: owners under a year lean positive, owners past a year lean strongly negative, and thirteen owners describe sagging on a timescale from under six months to seven years. Warranty coverage for sagging begins past an inch and a half, free replacement runs for ten years, and after that you pay $50 a trip.
Which Nectar model should I buy?
On owner evidence, the cheapest one. The satisfied accounts in our reading are people who paid roughly $700 to $1,000, and none of them is defending the top of the range. The brand’s own ratings agree: 4.7 out of 5 on the $699 Classic against 4.1 on the $2,249 Ultra Hybrid, from its own customers. The expensive models also carry so few reviews that no owner history is readable.
Does a Nectar mattress sag?
Thirteen owners in our corpus report it, which is not a rate and we will not turn it into one. The useful detail is when: reports run from under six months to seven years, and the shift in owner sentiment at the one year mark is the clearest signal in this corpus. What is the Nectar return policy really like?
